Britt Palmer
Britt is a psychotherapist and equine professional at Connections. She is also the owner and CEO. Britt created this program in order to be able to combine what she sees as the most effective forms of psychotherapy and intervention. She loves working with couples and families and offers intensives in addition to outpatient hourly therapy. Britt believes in the power of experiential therapy such as equine assisted psychotherapy, art therapy, mindfulness, yoga and intuitive movement, and EMDR (yes, this can be very experiential), and organizes her treatment with contextual therapy, attachment theory, and neurosequential development and regulation.
Since 1999, Britt has had the privilege of working in the mental health field. Her experience includes case management for developmentally disabled adults, county mental health counselor and crisis worker in rural California, director of eating disorder IOP and PHP program, director of residential substance addiction program, intake and crisis management in an inpatient psychiatric facility. She began serving folks with equine assisted psychotherapy and outpatient therapy in private practice over ten years ago and formed Connections Counseling and Wellness as a group in 2000.
She is certified and is an approved consultant in training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and Supervisor, Â is dually certified as both a mental health professional and equine professional and is a trainer with Natural Lifemanship Trauma Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, certified in the Trauma Conscious Yoga Method, and the Safe and Sound Protocol, and is trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
Britt is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (TN and CA) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (CA) and is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. She served on the TNAMFT Board  as the  West Tn Director of TNAMFT from 2022-2025 and continues to volunteer her time to the organization. Britt enjoys training and public speaking as well. As a lifelong learner, Britt continues her education and is pursuing her PhD in Applied Psychophysiology.
When not working with her awesome patients and team, as an introvert at heart, she will be found on her farm with her family and animals. If not at home, she loves camping in the Northwest, fishing, and riding her horses.
Insurances accepted by Britt include Cigna, United Healthcare, and Medicare
